It all went down after a 40-yard dash between the Alabama State Hornets’ mascot and the mascot of the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, Butch Henry. Cam was hyped, celebrating the Hornets’ win, but the Bulldog mascot apparently took it personally. It’s unclear who threw the first jab or push. But things quickly got physical: Newton open-hand slapped the mascot, while Butch Henry kept it coming, and Newton ended up shoving him while repeatedly yelling, “Stop playing with me!”
Of course, the moment didn’t stay quiet for long. Clips immediately went viral, social media had a field day, and even Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin threw in a playful jab: “Cam Newton-1 Bulldogs Mascot-0.” Safe to say, Cam wasn’t playing games… and this mascot probably won’t forget it anytime soon.
