Candiace Dillard Bassett and her husband, Chris, are sharing an intimate part of their pregnancy: their gender reveal. Social media has been how fans have kept up with the ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star since her sunset from the show after six seasons.
She and Chris first revealed they were expecting in April. At the time, she was about 13 weeks pregnant, per the Entertainment Tonight exclusive. Bassettt had also been keeping her pregnancy to herself, her family, and close friends. “Quietly just growing a bun,” she said.
On Wednesday, the couple shared the gender of the bun Candiace has been baking in a video that started in black and white. The first-time mommy admitted that she was hoping for a girl but would be “happy with whatever the Lord gives us, as long as they are healthy.” Meanwhile, Chris didn’t specify. Then, the proud soon-to-be parents put on blindfolds, dipped their palms in paint, and painted each other’s shirts and the baby bump.
Both had the biggest smiles after taking off their blinds and realizing they were having a baby boy. Candiace got a bit emotional then the couple leaned in for a smooch. Baby Bassett is expected to make their arrival in the fall.Watch the sweet reveal below.
US Weekly was the first to report Candiace’s gender reveal. In a chat with the outlet, the expectant mommy said she predicted she was having a boy because of her “masculine energy.” For his nursery, the parents picked out an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ time, which she’s having a ball with!
“Its the most magical and indescribable experience,” she told US Weekly. “I think Im actually going to miss it, but I also cant wait to meet him and stare at him all day!”
The biggest cravings from her fall baby (right now) are Olive Garden’s spaghetti with meat sauce, Apple Jacks cereal, and watermelon. Candiace added that her periodic obsessions with smash burgers were a “great time.” In August, Dillard took to Instagram to share recap footage of her baby shower for their mini-me.
“When youre ripping and running all over the place, it can be easy to forget how blessed you are. Im so grateful for my friends, my day ones! My family! For reminding me that I am loved and showering me and @cbassett33 in such a special way. We ate and drank and laughed and filled that room with so much joy and it was EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you, ALL! We are SO blessed,” she wrote about the event.
While this is Candiace’s first time on the parenthood block, her husband is on his fourth trip. He has three kids from a previous relationship. As mentioned, the pair have been going through their pregnancy journey without the cameras. Dillard said in March that she’s taking a break from the show to balance new opportunities and responsibilities.
