Cardi B Shares Her Thoughts On Joining The Cast Of ‘Fast & Furious 9’

Roommates, looks like Birkins aren’t the only bags Cardi B has been securing! The Grammy-award winning artist reportedly landed another acting role. Earlier this year, we reported that Cardi landed her first leading movie role in Paramounts “Assisted Living.” Now, the promising actress will star alongside industry vets like Vin Diesel in the upcoming film “Fast & Furious 9.”

The ninth installment in the franchise is set to be released next week. According to Newsweek, Cardi will be playing the role of Leysa, who “shares a history” with Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto.

In a behind-the-scenes clip posted by the film’s Instagram account (@thefastsaga), Cardi shared how she secured the role.

“Vin Diesel reached out and he was talking about a role,” Cardi said. ” And I’m like it’s freaking “Fast & Furious,” get me there, put me on a plane.”

The plot of the movie centers Dominic and his revenge-seeking younger brother Jakob, who is portrayed by John Cena.

Cardi B will act alongside additional franchise vets including Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. Viewers will also get a chance to see Don Omar and Tego Caldern return to the franchise since their last appearances in “Fast Five.” Cardi also expressed excitement in the behind-the-scenes footage to be working alongside the cast.

I remember when I saw Ludacris in Fast & Furious…when I saw Tego Caldernthen to see Don Omar, it makes the hood have hope, Cardi said. Being around Vin, hes just so nice, so dope. He makes you feel so comfortable. Im just so excited.

On Tuesday, she took to Twitter to praise God for the role and congratulate herself on her hard work.

“I can’t wait to watch Fast and Furious 9,” she wrote. “I haven’t seen my scenes yet! That’s the best part about it thooo watching the movie then you see yourself coming in. I’m sooo proud of myself. GOD IS GOOD! Can I get a ALL THE TIME?!!!!”
