Casanova Sentenced To Over 15 Years In Prison

UPDATE: Casanova Sentenced To Over 15 Years In Prison For Gang-Related Offenses

Casanova has officially been sentenced to 188 months in prison — over 15 years — for being the “high-profile leader” of a vicious street gang and a “magnet for gang violence.”

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams did not hold back at sentencing Tuesday. Williams tore into the 36-year-old Brooklyn native for his role in recruiting and expanding the Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods street gang nationwide.

Prosecutor Says Casanova Was “High-Profile Leader Of Vicious Street Gang” At Sentencing Tuesday

“Caswell Senior is not just a notorious recording artist, but he is also a high-profile leader of a vicious street gang and a magnet for gang violence,” Williams said per the Department of Justice.

Williams went on to make an example of the rapper, adding, “Today’s sentencing… shows once again that gang life… will lead to many years in prison.”

“Further, Senior’s stature in the community was central to Gorilla Stone’s successful recruitment and nationwide expansion. Today’s sentencing — along with the other significant sentences that have been imposed in this case — shows once again that gang life is not worth it and will lead to many years in prison.”

The rapper has remained behind bars ever since his arrest on gang-related RICO charges in 2020, The Shade Room previously reported. Should he serve his entire sentence, he will be about 51 years old when he leaves prison.

Casanova’s Girlfriend Says She’s Holding Her Man Down While He Completes 15+ Year Sentence

In an Instagram post, Casanova’s girlfriend, Jazzy, said she would hold her man down as he completes his prison sentence.

“I love you baby. We got walk that s*** down!” Jazzy captioned the post alongside a photo of the couple holding hands.

Cas is the 12th defendant in the Gorilla Stone case to have been sentenced as of Tuesday. Five additional defendants have pled guilty and are currently awaiting sentencing.

Meanwhile, the news comes less than two weeks after Casanova penned a letter to the judge asking for leniency before Tuesday’s sentencing.

In it, the Roc Nation rapper renounced his gang ties, as reported by The Shade Room earlier this month. Cas said he would use his name to speak against gang life should the judge grant him leniency.

He even admitted that he’d had suicidal thoughts while incarcerated in the letter to Judge Philip Halpern before his June 27 sentencing date, HipHopDX reports.

Casanova Slashed In Prison By Fellow Inmate Same Day Rapper Renounced His Gang Ties

However, Casanova was reportedly stabbed at the Essex County Correctional Facility on June 15.

The rapper was “slashed with a weapon by another inmate” named Ulysses Lugo, according to NBC New York. The slashing occurred the same day he renounced his gang ties.

Following Tuesday’s sentencing, his girlfriend elaborated on the incident via her Instagram Story.

“Now that he’s sentenced, let me address this. I said they saying you got a buck 50 baby,” she went on to post, referencing a cut on the face of an inmate that requires at least 150 stitches, per the Charlotte Observer.

Jazzy continued: “He video-called me they must be talking bout that buck 50 you put on my commissary. That boy look good.”

She also posted a photo of the alleged “slash wound.” It appeared to be nothing more than a slight cut next to his nose, per the photo.
