#Roommates, it’s been almost two months since Tiger Woods was involved in a very severe car accident in Los Angeles that left him hospitalized and requiring surgery—and now, the cause of his accident has finally been revealed. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department recently confirmed that speed was the contributing factor to Tiger Woods’ accident, as he was more than 50 miles per hour above the speed limit.

@CNN reports, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva held a recent press conference and finally solved the mystery as to what caused golf legend Tiger Woods to be involved in such as serious car crash. Villanueva stated that the main causes of the crash were speed and Tiger’s inability to negotiate a curve. According to the official report from the scene, Tiger was driving a Genesis SUV in the early morning hours of February 23rd when his vehicle veered off the road estimated about 26 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.

When Tiger Woods approached a curve in the road, instead of hitting the brakes on his car, he slammed hard on the gas pedal, causing the SUV to roll over at a very high speed. Sheriff Villanueva further confirmed that Tiger was traveling at a speed in an excess of 87 mph—which is much more than the 45mph speed limit in the area.

As we previously reported, at the time of the crash Tiger was alone in the vehicle that sustained major damage to the front and side, resulting in him being transported to the hospital via the “jaws of life.” Additionally, airbags appeared to be deployed.

Although he is currently recuperating at home, Tiger Woods underwent a series of surgeries for the injuries he sustained to his leg. As of now, he has not publicly commented on the recent news regarding the cause of the crash.
