Charlie Kirk Fatally Shot At Utah College Rally
Charlie Kirk, 31, a prominent conservative voice and founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday. Kirk was speaking as part of his group’s ‘American Comeback Tour,’ when the unexpected attack occurred. According to reports, he was struck in the neck by a single bullet during an open-air rally. Furthermore, lawmakers from both parties have since condemned the attack and spoken out against political violence.
President Trump Reacts To The News
President Trump announced on Truth Social that American flags will be lowered to half-staff in honor of Charlie Kirk. And, in a solemn post on the same platform, Trump paid tribute to Charlie Kirk while extending condolences to his family, saying:
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
Meanwhile, Turning Point USA, the organization Kirk co-founded, released a statement honoring his legacy. In the post, the organization asks for “privacy” amid the unexpected situation.

What We Know So Far
According to a statement from Utah Valley University, the shooting occurred shortly after 12 p.m. local time. Video of the incident showed Kirk speaking to a large crowd at an outdoor “Prove Me Wrong” debate, where he invited students to challenge his political and cultural views. And, in video footage, Kirk can be seen addressing a large crowd moments before a single gunshot rings out, striking him.
Furthermore, the shooting suspect remains at large. Despite FBI Director, Kash Patel, sharing that a suspect was taken into custody, they have now reportedly been released after interrogation. Additionally, initial reports had wrongly identified an older male as the suspect, a claim police also later refuted. And, according to ABC News, eyewitnesses saw authorities detain a man who allegedly screamed, “I’d do it again!”
