Chick-fil-A's Drive-Thru Ranked As The Slowest Among Fast Food Restaurants

Chick-fil-A’s Drive-Thru Ranked As The Slowest Among Fast Food Restaurants

#Roommates, this may come as a surprise to fans of the hugely popular Chick-fil-A. It has recently been revealed that despite excellent customer service and food that keeps customers coming back for more, the drive-thru has a big problem with wait times.

Chick-fil-A is well-known for going above and beyond when it comes to the best customer service and pleasant staff, which is why the drive-thru may be suffering. According to @wsbtv, Chick-fil-A’s drive-thru is ranked as the slowest in the nation among all fast food chains—perhaps it’s because they are always so busy.

To give some context to how Chick-fil-A found itself at the bottom of the list, the breakdown was stated pretty simply. The average wait time, which is the period between placing your order and receiving your food, went up by more than a minute compared to this time last year. Chick-fil-A’s average wait time totaled five minutes and 23 seconds, which is nearly 40 seconds longer than McDonald’s. However, McDonald’s wasn’t far behind because the company had the second slowest wait time of all the restaurants tested. The tests that were conducted by anonymous shoppers.

The study was conducted by fast food industry publication QSR, a company that partners with third parties to test the annual service of drive-thrus at national fast food chains.  Chick-fil-A’s popularity has skyrocketed within the last few years—it’s now ranked as the third-largest fast food chain in the nation based on revenue and the average per-restaurant sales tops $4 million, much higher than much of its competition.

One industry insider said that “Chick-fil-A’s model is focused a little more on quality and service rather than trying to be the quickest and most affordable.” This could explain why many customers don’t mind a little extra wait time to get such top-notch service.

Chick-fil-A appears to be trying to improve its drive-thru wait time because the company is currently adding windows and doors at select restaurants so staff can bring out food more quickly. Removable shelves alongside the drive-thru are also being added so outside workers can stage food before they hand deliver it.
