So far the 2016 rap beefs , seem to be either publicity stunts or beefs that thankfully haven’t left social media as of yet but the latest rap beef between NY rappers Troy Av and Joey Bada$$ just might take there!
Our New York roommates may have heard Troy Ave’s “Bad A**” song he dropped the other day, if not you can listen below:
I don’t know about you but these lyrics right here alone had me cringing:
“Cause I’m a savage, this gon’ leave you sad b***/ Don’t get suicidal like your friend, heres a casket/ Steez burning in Hell, my burner’s in my belt / I’m really killing sh*t, you n*** killing yourself / F*** weirdos, off the roof, “Steer clear yo!”/This n*** trying to fly, he think he’s a superhero/ Splat man! F*** you and that man”
The Steez that Troy Ave is referring to is Capital Steez, a close friend of Joey Bada$$ and member of Pro Era who committed suicide back in 2012 by jumping off of a roof….so yeah Troy’s lyrics are pretty much disrespectful as hell!
For those who are wondering why the hell did Troy Ave go off like that its because this is his response to Joey’s recently released song called “Ready”….
…in it he reopened old wounds when he rapped about Troy Ave’s album sales again
“60k first week for the Bada**/ 200k to this day I know you n*** mad/ With the 80/20 split my n*** do the math/ My n**** Kirk just outsold Troy Ave.”
These lines must have really hit a nerve!
Anyways, not only did Troy violate Joey on his song, Troy then proceeded to call into Sway In The Morning and violated some more! He defended his strong lyrics by saying, ” “He didn’t pass away. He killed himself. There’s a difference. God gave you life, it ain’t your right to take that. That’s a fact. I got niggas in jail who got life sentences, they might as well be dead. They could’ve traded their life for his…your friends speak to your character.” He then calls Capital STEEZ a “bozo” and a “d*ckhead.”

For those who don’t know Troy and Joey have a had a silent beef for some time now stemming from when Joey had taken a jab at Troy’s album sales epic failure last year (for those who don’t know he sold just under 4,500 copies for his “Major Without A Deal” album he released last summer.)
He tweeted, “Reminder: Joey Bada$$ sold 57,000+ albums in his first week, INDEPENDENTLY… At 20 years old… $10/album… 85% of shares, do the math….” and then followed up with, “That makes me the #1 Independent Hip Hop artist/brand in the world….— B4.DA.$$ OUT NOW!!!”
Yikes…all over album sale comments though? But then again there are no rules in war right? Lets chat below, how do you see this beef ending?
