2026 is just around the corner, and Claressa Shields already has her year mapped out! Recently, the Gwoat chopped it up with Fight Hype and said she’s focusing on having her first child with Papoose.
During an exclusive chat with Fight Hype, Claressa Shields kept it 100 about her 2026 plans and she made it real clear that she wants to have a baby. She didn’t hesitate, saying her main goal is to start a family with Papoose. “100% I’m having a baby!” Shields said.
“I just want to get my two, three fights out the way and then I want to start my family. Then after that… I can get back in shape and fight some more,” Claressa continued.
When it comes to the gender, the boxing champ said she hopes for a healthy baby, but since Pap wants a boy, she’s happy to have a lil’ Pap too. And about the future son they’re hoping for, Shields added that their lil’ man will probably box and rap.
Shields has been open about her legacy for a minute now. Back in July, she told the hosts of ‘The Pivot’ podcast that she and Pap want a baby in 2026 and they don’t plan on stopping at one. She said she doesn’t want to wait until her 40’s or after her career to start a family, she wants to be a boss mom, juggling motherhood and her career at the same time.
I want to be able to run at the park with my kids and stuff like that. I dont want to be too old. So, I think keeping my body in shape.. I dont drink or smoke. I think that will also help me too, when Im going through this whole body and life change, Shields said.
Claressa has been super open about her and Papoose’s baby plans, but what about marriage? Earlier this month, she pulled up to the ‘Sherri Shepherd Show’ and addressed all of the engagement talk circulating online and said that tying the knot is definitely in their future. Shields told Sherri that when Pap finally gets down on one knee, it has to be a BIG moment! I believe thats definitely in our future, but he gotta plan that cause that gotta be BIG! Im like a go big or stay home kind of girl.
