Clayton County, Georgia Police Officers Under Investigation After Choking & Beating Black Lyft Passenger Who Refused To Show ID

Roommates, a shocking instance of police brutality recently occurred in a Georgia suburb. According to reports, a black man, his cousin and a third person were passengers in a Lyft that was pulled over in Clayton County, Georgia because a tail light was out. They say Clayton County Sheriff’s deputies asked for his license but he didn’t have one.  That’s when they say a deputy asked to see the passengers’ licenses. The men asked the officers why they had to show ID since they had done nothing wrong.

As the deputy continued to press the man’s head on the pavement he screamed, “I’m gonna die!” and “I can’t breathe.” The young child who was present,  watched as the man on the ground appeared to have been rendered unconscious.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said, “After being made aware of a video posted on social media involving a Deputy using physical force on a man, Sheriff Victor Hill ordered his entire Internal Affairs Unit to come in and begin an investigation that has been ongoing since 8pm. The Sheriff has ordered that the Deputy involved be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”

This is the latest instance of police brutality in Clayton County, as earlier this summer several officers were under fire after pulling guns on a group of young boys who walked through the woods and were outside in their neighborhood playing.
