Coi Leray is gearing up to release her debut studio album “Trendsetter,” and recently she stopped by “The Breakfast Club,” to talk about various things, including her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, where her relationship is with her father, the development of music over the years and more.
During the interview, they touched on Coi Leray’s Nicki Minaj featured single “Blick Blick,” which instantly climbed to the top of the charts after its release. After Coi spoke about her experience working with Nicki, things segued into her relationship with her father Benzino.
As previously reported, the thought of Coi and Nicki collaborating first came about when Benzino revealed that they both had something on the way. At the time, both Coi and Nicki denied it, and he later issued an apology. Weeks later it was actually confirmed that they did have a record together.

Coi shared during her interview that she told her father not to say anything about the record, and once he did she thought that the collaboration would fall through. She said, “He was so hurt, I don’t know if I was more hurt that I felt like I lost the verse, or I felt like my father was like humiliated and he was so proud and he was crushed. I don’t know what hurt me more.”
Coi also revealed during the interview that she is now single. When asked if she was still with Pressa, she reassured that they’re cool and are still great friends. As she explained their split, she said, “I feel like it’s selfish for me to paint you to what I would want you to be, knowing you can’t right now. You’re in a grind mode, you’re still upcoming.”
With the both of them being upcoming artists, she felt like they could have been a distraction to each other.
