Driver Accused Of Swapping Seats With Dog To Avoid DUI Arrest

Got That Dawg In Him! Colorado Driver Accused Of Swapping Seats With Pet To Avoid DUI Arrest

In a desperate attempt to avoid arrest, a drunk driver in southeastern Colorado is accused of trading seats with his dog!

The Officer Saw The Driver “Switch Places With His Dog”

The situation unfolded in Springfield, Colo., late Saturday night, according to a Facebook post from the Springfield Police Department.

It all began after an officer pulled a car over for traveling 22 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

At that point, the unnamed driver — later described as having shown “clear signs of intoxication” — allegedly attempted to cover his tracks through highly-questionable means. Specifically, he tried to “switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat,” and the officer hilariously “watched the entire process.”

The matter only grew more outrageous from there. In fact, the man “exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving.” Not him trying to frame man’s best friend!

After the officer inquired about the driver’s alcohol intake, he allegedly made a run for it.

However, he was ultimately “apprehended quickly within about 20 yards of the vehicle.” So, it looks like this runner was no track star!

What Happened To The Framed Dog?

Once the driver was apprehended, he was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared. Authorities also note they discovered the man had “two active warrants for his arrest.”

As a result, he was booked into Baca County Jail. On top of his warrants, he was also charged with DUI, along with other charges like resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.

As for the pooch, authorities note it was temporarily “given to an acquaintance of the driver to take care of.”

Humorously, the post ends with, “The dog does not face any charges and was let go with just a warning.”

Roommates, what do you think of this man’s attempt to frame his dog for DUI?
