James Will Be On Home Detention Until His Trial Starts In 2024

According to CBS News Baltimore, the ruling arrived on Tuesday (Oct. 3). The former officer, accused of molesting at least three children under his wife’s care, was placed on “Level 3 Home Detention.” Naturally, he isn’t allowed to have contact with any children, witnesses, or victims from his case.

Per The Baltimore Banner, Judge Nancy M. Purpura declared that Weems could stay with a friend who served with him in the U.S. Marine Corps. Additionally, he’s reportedly only allowed to leave the residence to attend medical appointments or see his lawyer.

“You can’t leave that home for any other reason.”

James Weems Jr.’s trial is set to begin on May 6, 2024.

Shanteari Weems Says She “Snapped” & “Was In A Daze” Before Shooting James Weems Jr.

As The Shade Room reported, Shanteari shot James at a Washington, D.C., hotel on July 21, 2022, after learning of the allegations. She was arrested that day, and authorities took James into custody on child sex abuse charges less than a week later.

People have called for Shanteari Weems’ release, though she ultimately pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and carrying an unlicensed firearm in November 2022. After being sentenced to 48 months behind bars in February 2023, she declared that she “snapped” and is “not a violent person.”

According to CBS News Baltimore, she later declared, “I was like a walking zombie. I was in a daze. It was a feeling I had never felt or experienced in my life.”
