Rick Ross has big plans for his weekend despite having to spend a couple of hours in jail and in front of a judge on Thursday (Oct. 1). The rapper turned himself in to Miami Beach Police on charges of battery by strangulation and battery, with both charges tied to domestic violence. The arrest comes after cops reportedly received a report of violence from Ross’ unnamed ex-girlfriend. Reports and social media users are drawing a connection to Jazzma Kendrick, who recently shared posts accusing Ross of busting her lip over a month ago. Additionally, footage is going viral of a Miami judge giving Ross’ lawyer a spicy response over a request to consider his celebrity status.
Ross filmed the post-jail clip from the inside of a car. He started off by asking for silence before immediately clarifying that he’s “totally innocent of the fabricated allegations made” against him. He did not name the person who made the allegations. His lawyers also denied the allegations on Thursday.
“I have an amazing team…and I’m totally confident that these totally fabricated allegations will be laid to rest,” Rick Ross said.
As previously reported, over the weekend, his former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, accused him of busting her lip over a month ago, leading her to end the relationship. Booking records for Rick’s arrest do not cite Jazzma as the victim of his alleged battery. However, reports say the arrest came after a woman reported a violent confrontation to Miami Beach police. Kendrick is Ross’ most recent public girlfriend. She has not addressed Ross’ arrest.
That said, Rick Ross isn’t letting the arrest on battery charges stop his active weekend. In his post-release video, the rapper shared that he plans to be in Dubai on Friday night, followed by Paris on Saturday. He plans to be back on Sunday to enjoy a big plate of rigatoni with “heavy marinara.”
As previously reported, TMZ, quoting law enforcement sources, says an ex-girlfriend of Rick Ross’ told police on Tuesday of a violent incident that allegedly happened on August 28. She reportedly told cops that Rick grabbed her by her ponytail, slammed her into a wall, hit her in the chest and choked her until she couldn’t breathe during a jealous rage. He allegedly struck her while she repeatedly denied being involved with anyone outside of him. The woman, not named, also provided photo evidence to police.
His lawyers, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, said Rick Ross is “being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear.”
“The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course,” the lawyers added.
Also on Thursday, Rick Ross came before Judge Mindy Glazer on video while wearing a red jail jumpsuit. His attorney Bradley Horenstein, per TMZ, inquired about his case being “expedited” because of his fame and concerns for his safety. The judge immediately shut down any hints of preferential treatment. She turned to Ross and said she has no idea who he is, but will be treating him fairly in the courtroom like “everybody else here.” His next court appearance is reportedly an arraignment on Oct. 22.
Several days ago, Jazzma Kendrick said Rick Ross busted her lip and saw her as a “punching bag.” After he allegedly hurt her over a month ago, she claims she left the relationship, believing he never loved her and never will.
“Its always good until it isnt. If a man hits you one time, he will do it again. Dont give him the opportunity. Value your life and leave,” Jazzma Kendrick added.
Again, it is not immediately clear whether Jazzma’s weekend allegations escalated to a police report, leading to the arrest.Days before Rick Ross declared his own innocence, his first coparent, Tia Kemp, was both cussing him out and coming to his defense.
