Cynthia Bailey Reveals "Final Straw" That Led To Mike Hill Divorce

Cynthia Bailey Reveals “Final Straw” That Led To Divorcing Mike Hill Without Regret

Cynthia Bailey and Mike Hill confirmed their split via joint and individual statements to the press in mid-October. The announcement came just a day after footage surfaced of Mike doubling as a human pole for a woman. Yet, the video had nothing to do with their split. In his statement to PEOPLE, Mike said they had been “thinking about going [their] separate ways for the last few months.”

Nearly three weeks later, Cynthia has opened up about the “final straw” that led her and Mike down the divorce path. She gave her take on Monday’s episode of the podcast Two Ts In A Pod, hosted by Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge.

“I felt like we weren’t friends anymore,” Cynthia said. “I felt like it was just going toward we’re just not going to be friends if we didn’t pump the brakes.”

Cynthia & Mike Have Emphasized Their Friendship Amid Split

Friendship has been a hot subject for Cynthia and Mike amid speaking on their split. The former couple first emphasized their friendship in their joint October 12 statement to PEOPLE.

“LOVE is a beautiful thing. While we both will always have love for one another, we have decided to go our separate ways. No one is to blame, we are grateful that we remain good friends,” Cynthia and Mike’s statement said.

About two years after divorcing Peter Thomas, Cynthia and Mike were romantically linked. Fourteen months later, Mike popped the question, and they wed in a lavish Georgia wedding in 2020. But within two years of marriage, their flame fizzled. During this week’s podcast appearance, Cynthia said she leaned on her previous marriage experience to decide about Mike.

“This is not my first rodeo. I think friendship just has to be there in a marriage. Like, love is great, but friendship has to be there. I truly want to be with my best friend,” Cynthia said.

Despite the end, Cynthia claimed in her statement earlier this month that Mike was destined to come into her life. And like him, she is “so grateful for [their] continued friendship.”

Cynthia Believes There’s No Regrets Between Them About Split

Though the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star knows she wants a bestie bae, her certainty doesn’t take away from her daily struggles. She told the podcast hosts she has “good days and bad days” as they work to finalize the divorce paperwork.

“I don’t think either one of us regret our decision to move forward in the way we have decided to move forward,” she said. “It’s not final yet. We’re still going through the process, so we’re still technically married. For me, there’s still just a lot of respect stuff on my end that I still feel like he’s my husband.”

Though there might be no regrets, Cynthia says the process is “just weird.” No response to the podcast episode from Mike as of Wednesday, but she insists they’re on “good terms.”
