Damson Idris Says He Bumped Snoop Dogg ‘Every Single Day’ To Get Into Character For ‘Snowfall’

During a recent sit-down with Elle, Damson Idris reflected on just how impactful Snoop Dogg‘s music has been in developing his Snowfall character.

Damson Idris Speaks On How He ‘Used Snoop Dogg’s Music’

Damson linked up with the publication to shed light on various “firsts” throughout his time in the industry, and he was asked to dish about “first time being recognized in public.”

The London-bred actor went on to explain that, while at a party thrown by Floyd Mayweather, Snoop Dogg approached him and acknowledged how much he enjoys the show.

With his best Snoop impersonation, Damson recalled, “He was like, ‘Hey, wassup nephew. I’m watching the show, man—I love that show.”

As Snoop Dogg is an outspoken fan of the series, the pair swiftly hit it off, and they continue to be friends to this day.

On top of his friendship with the rapper, Damson also reflected on how he “grew up listening” to his music. Additionally, he spoke on how he’d bump bops from Doggystyle “every single day” to “get into character.”

“I used Snoop Dogg’s music. Just to get into character, I’d listen to ‘Gin and Juice’ and ‘What’s My Name?’ every single day.”

As a result, Damson says, “To get recognition from him was truly special and definitely memorable.” He also said that he “can’t wait to work with him one day.”

Damson Also Recalled The ‘Awkward’ Time When He Met Rihanna

Snoop Dogg isn’t the only celeb who Damson dished on, as he also recounted his first time meeting Rihanna, which he called “awkward.”

He said that, while out at another party, he spotted Rihanna sitting at the bar, and he admitted, “I was like, ‘This is my moment.'”

Idris says he proceeded to strut over to the bar and, with his “best James Bond impersonation,” introduce himself. However, Rihanna wasn’t impressed, as “she was kind of giving [him] one-worded answers.”

Ultimately, Damson says he asked Rihanna, “How come as I’m speaking to you, you think I’m up to something?” In turn, she dryly responded, “Because you are.”

In spite of this awkward interaction, though, Damson points out that he still managed to secure a spot in the Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4. As a result, he humorously calls the situation a “full-circle moment.”

What do you think about Damson Idris’ humorous recollection of his awkward moment with Rihanna?
