Department Of Homeland Security Is Compiling A Database Of Journalists And Influencers For ‘Media Monitoring’

Where all my social media influencers at? Y’all better be careful with what y’all discuss on your social platforms because the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is seeking contractors to compile a searchable database of “media influencers” that will allow the agency to keep up with what’s going on in the world of social media and traditional news sources, according to the ABA Journal.

Via: “The work request from DHS seeks a firm that has the ability to monitor up to 290,000 global news sources; ability to track media coverage in up to 100 languages and the ability to “track online, print, broadcast, cable, radio, trade and industry publications, local sources, national/international outlets, traditional news sources, and social media.”

A Forbes op-ed says the plans “are enough to cause nightmares of constitutional proportions, particularly as the freedom of the press is under attack worldwide.”

Y’all here for this? Thoughts?
