You learn something new everyday and there are probably those of you that already know this, but for those who don’t—sip this tea!
It’s safe to say a lot of us watched Cheetah Girls and all it’s sequels in the mid 2000s, and sang along to ALL the songs.
That being said, Solange was supposed to be one of the members we were singing along with, before Kiely Williams was cast due to Solange apparently dropping out.
“The auditions were long,” Sabrina Bryan, who played “Dorinda” in the movie, told IBT. “They auditioned hundreds of girls for the four roles… I went to a couple more callbacks, and then the last and final callback, they had Raven there. She was being brought on as Galleria. And Adrienne came in, and I was a fan of 3LW…Raven I knew. I had already heard talks about ‘That’s So Raven.’ I had already seen some of the audition calls for it. So, I knew that show was being filmed. So, that wasn’t a surprise. But also, Solange Knowles was there. And she was originally booked as Aqua. Beyonce’s little sister.”
Debra Martin Chase, the executive producer of the franchise, explained to IBT why Solo didn’t go through with the role. Apparently the release date of her album “Solo Star” was pushed up, and her father, Mathew Knowles, didn’t think that she could do both promo for her album, and filming the movie.
Being that the album was one of Solo’s first projects and the movie would’ve been her first role, management reportedly thought it may have been too much to juggle at the time.
Kiely apparently had no idea that change was actually made until 2018.
“Oh, I didn’t know that,” she responded when IBT spoke about Solange being the original cast.
Either way, Cheetah Girls went on to be a hit and Solange is doing just fine as a whole hit herself. Issa win win if you ask me!
