DJ Khaled Shares An Old Text Message Exchange Between Him And Nipsey Hussle After Learning About Their Grammy Nomination

On Wednesday, the nominations for the 62nd annual Grammy Awards were revealed and a lot of celebs shared their reaction to learning about their nominations. One person to post about their nomination was DJ Khaled.

He is currently nominated for his song “Higher,” which also features Nipsey Hussle and John Legend. After learning about their nomination, Khaled took to social media to share the text message exchange between him and Nipsey during their time working on the record. In the messages, it can be seen that Khaled promised the success of the record would earn them a Grammy nomination, and that it did.

In the post, Khaled said, “I wanted to share with the world how excited @nipseyhussle and I were while making HIGHER! So much love and blessings! @nipseyhussle we talked this into existence! GRAMMY Nominated! THANK YOU @johnlegend for getting on this record! We’re going to bring this one home!”

The music video for “Higher” was one of the last videos Nipsey Hussle was a part of before his unfortunate passing. In fact, the video was filmed days before he was gunned down.

Prior to releasing the music video, DJ Khaled announced that all of the proceeds from the song would go to Nipsey Hussle’s children.

As we previously reported, Nipsey has been nominated for three Grammy Awards. Aside from his Best Rap/ Sung Performance nomination with DJ Khaled and John Legend. He also received a nomination for Best Rap Song, and also Best Rap Performance for his single “Racks in the Middle,” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy.

In the end, Nipsey Hussle’s legacy and music will continue to live on forever.
