It’s almost time for Billboard‘s annual award show the Billboard Music Awards, which honors the musical accomplishments of artists from all genres. Leading in nominations for this year’s award show is none other than The Weeknd and Doja Cat. Other artists such as Drake, Ye, Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Beiber, Lil Nas X, and many other artists also round out this year’s nominations.
The Weeknd has earned a total of 17 nominations, including Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, and many others. Doja Cat follows right behind with a total of 14 nominations, including Top Female Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top R&B Artist, and more.
Drake who is the most decorated artist in BBMA history, with 29 wins, also is coming through with a few nominations following the release of his highly anticipated album “Certified Lover Boy.” Aside from being nominated for Top Rap Album, he also earned nominations for Top Rap Artist, Top Billboard 200 artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, and more. As you all may remember, last year Drake was honored as Billboard’s Artist of the Decade. This year, he has the chance to win more awards, and keep the crown for the most BBMA wins.
Summer Walker who has also had a huge year with the release of her sophomore album “Still Over It,” earned nominations for Top R&B Album, Top R&B Artist, and Top R&B Female Artist.
The Billboard Music Awards return to Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for the first time since 2019 on May 15th.
