The Trump administration will reportedly increase the percentage of partial SNAP benefits to be paid out for the month of November, as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has cut flights at 40 major airports. This, amid the looming government shutdown, which has reached 37 days — the longest in U.S. history.

Trump Administration To Reportedly Increase Partial SNAP Payments For November Amid Government Shutdown
On Wednesday, November 5, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a notice signaling an update on the SNAP benefit expense for November 2025. Furthermore, the notice indicated that it is revising its November 4 update and stating that instead of benefits being reduced by 50% and leaving a 50% “maximum allotment” payout for November, benefits will be reduced by 35% for the month of November. Therefore, updating November’s “maximum allotment” payout of SNAP benefits to 65%.
“This reduction is effective immediately,” the notice asserted.
According to Newsweek, for example, a family of four typically receives less than $1,000 per month in SNAP benefits. Furthermore, with the 50% reduction, that family of four would have received less than $500. However, the 35% reduction now enables that same family of four to receive less than $600. It’s important to note that each family’s payments will differ depending on their household size and specific income.
As The Shade Room previously reported, the update arrives after the government officially shut down on October 1. Furthermore, the Trump administration initially rejected funding SNAP amid the shutdown. However, on November 1, a federal judge ordered the administration to step in. This initially prompted the administration to share the 50% figure. To note, earlier this week, some thought the plan was thwarted after Trump took to Truth Social, seemingly threatening the initiative. However, the White House ultimately clarified the President’s words, per The Shade Room.
At this time, it still remains unclear when the partial SNAP benefits will be paid out, per USA Today.
FAA Cuts Flights At 40 Major Airports Amid Government Shutdown
Along with the impacted SNAP funds, the government shutdown has also brought a reduction in federal workers and federal paychecks. This, now prompting the FAA to cut “air traffic by 10 percent at 40 major U.S. airports starting Friday.” Per Newsweek, the move is aimed at alleviating the “pressure” on air traffic controllers amid the shutdown. Furthermore, the reductions could “ramp up through next week.”
Specifically, airlines are reportedly preparing for “mass cancellations and rerouting.” Per AP News, some of the airports included in the cut are:
“Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Baltimore/Washington International, Dallas/Fort Worth International, Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International, Los Angeles International, LaGuardia Airport, Miami International, Chicago O`Hare International, Philadelphia International, and more.”
