There is no doubt that Donald Glover is a talented individual, as he has seen success as an actor, writer, producer, comedian, rapper, and singer.
However, it looks like soon Glover will really say goodbye to his musical alter ego, Childish Gambino. He first announced the news last weekend at Governors Ball in New York City, by saying on stage, Ill see you for the last Gambino album.
On Monday during an event to promote his show Atlanta, Glover talked with the Huffington Post, where he reportedly said hes ending his music career as Childish Gambino because he doesnt think its necessary anymore.
The Redbone, singer said, Theres nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and were like, again? You know, I like it when somethings good and when it comes back theres a reason to come back, theres a reason to do that.
He continued, Like I feellike theres gotta be a reason to do things and I always had a reason to be punk. Being punk just always felt really good to me and we always looked at Atlanta as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldnt be punk anymore. As much as Redbone is a punk song because its a gospel song thats on the radio, Im like theres only so far you can go before you just are the radio.
Glover released his last studio album Awaken, My Love! in December of 2016. There was no mention of when he would be releasing his last album as Childish Gambino.
Nonetheless, fans can expect Donald Glover to appear in upcoming films, Spiderman: Homecoming, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Disneys remake of The Lion King.
