Tension in the Middle East has escalated significantly following President Donald Trumps announcement of U.S. strikes on nuclear sites in Iran, drawing global attention and concern. On Saturday, June 21, Donald Trump announced via his Truth Social platform that the United States had carried out airstrikes on three nuclear sites in Iran. The sites included Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. According to Trump, the operation has been completed and all U.S. aircrafts involved have exited Iranian airspace. This development follows heightened tensions in the region, as Iran recently warned the United States of an all-out war should it choose to align itself militarily with Israel.
“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” Trump revealed.
Not long after that post, Trump hit the stage to double down on his message. As he addressed the nation, he declared that Iran must make peace or risk far greater and a lot easier attacks in the future.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased police presence at religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites throughout the five boroughs. We also continue to work with our state and federal partners to keep New Yorkers safe. Im thinking of all the New York City families who may be affected by these developments, especially our large Persian community,” Mayor Eric Adams posted on X.
In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly praised former President Donald Trump following the U.S. strikes. The show of support comes shortly after Israel carried out its own surprise attack on Iranian targets over a week ago. While the two countries appear aligned in their approach, the prospect of de-escalation in the region remains uncertain.
“History will record that President Trump acted to deny the worlds most dangerous regime, the worlds most dangerous weapons. His leadership today has created a pivot of history that can help lead the Middle East and beyond to a future of prosperity and peace,” announced Netanyahu.
Additionally, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, spoke exclusively with CNNs Fred Pleitgen following U.S. strikes on the nuclear facilities. Baghaei described the U.S. actions as “unprecedentedly dangerous” and called them a “betrayal of diplomacy.”
