Complex is shaking up the timeline yet again after releasing its latest ranked list of Chicago rappers. The list highlights many of the citys natives who have made their mark and helped shape the Windy Citys rap scene. As the list circulated on social media, fellow Chicago rappers Dreezy and Queen Key entered the chat to share their thoughts.
On Wednesday, Complex released its 50 Best Chicago Rappers of All Time list, highlighting artists from different generations of the rap scene. The list spans from 90s pioneers to artists who helped lead the rise of Chicagos drill scene.
Complex says the 50-artist ranking considers technical skill, catalog strength, commercial impact and influence. Kanye West was crowned at the top of the list, followed by Common and Chief Keef. Check out Complexs full ranking below:
As the list made its way around social media, Dreezy took to X to question her placement at No. 47. Complex just dropped their 50 best Chicago Rappers of all time. Im #47. So its 46 other rappers better than me? Lol, Dreezy wrote.
Queen Key reacted to Dreezys tweet while expressing frustration about being left off the list completely.
Whoever made that list a dumb bit**** & can go suck they mama d*** How im not even on it b*** do they know how much impact and money I got around this mf for the past 10 yrs fake a*** n**** dont even speak English who made that, Queen Key wrote.
Dreezy then gave her fellow Chicago rapper her flowers, replying, You definitely earned yo spot. They been doing this to me for years smh. Queen Key continued the discussion over on Instagram, further expressing her frustration about being left off the list.
In my disrespectful era. Dont ever disrespect the queen. F*** the industry yall dont know nothin. No rap b*** has higher numbers than me currently & consistently in this f****** city, Queen Key wrote.
