After the talks involving Big Sean spread to Threads, Jhen Aiko stepped in to clear the air about what inspired her. A Threads user posted that the song ‘He Belongs’ is about Aiko catching her ex-boyfriend cheating. The lyrics they singled out included, “Can’t turn a fling into a real thing…Can’t turn a promise into a wedding ring…Can’t turn a h*e into a husband.”Ultimately, Jhen responded to the Threads post, writing: “Song is not about him.”
The ex-couple reportedly first met in 2012 at a studio and, by 2016, were romantically involved, per PEOPLE. Despite their on-and-off romance and the birth of their son Noah in 2022, Jhen Aiko was never engaged or married.
In August 2024, she riled up fans, sparking a wave of reactions when she jokingly called out her empty ring finger while they performed together. That same month, Big Sean appeared on Charlamagne Tha God’s podcast ‘Out of Context’ and explained that he views marriage as one expression of love. But for him and Aiko, he said, “There’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”
Sean and Aiko eventually split around November 2025, according to reports. She has been recently linked to San Francisco rapper, Larry June. He even made an appearance on her album.
