This year has been pretty long for all of us, Roomies, but Ellen DeGeneres has definitely seen better times. In a message posted to her Instagram account on Friday, she revealed to her fans that she has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Hi everyone, I want to let you all know that I tested positive for COVID-19,” she said. “Fortunately, I’m feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all proper CDC guidelines. I’ll see you all again after the holidays. Please stay healthy and safe.”
It is unclear whether or not Ellen’s show will resume without her at this time.
Speaking of her show, Ellen found herself in the midst of an internal investigation back in July, as employees made complains of mistreatment, discrimination and racism in the workplace. The investigation went on for months, as Ellen made an attempt to remove employees who were responsible for creating the toxic environment.
Amid the backlash she was receiving, Ellen reportedly hinted at wanting to end her show all together.
Nevertheless, The Ellen Show returned for its 18th season back in September, and Ellen addressed the allegations at the top of the season saying that she takes fulls responsibility for what happened.
“I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show,” she said. “We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, the workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter.”
