More Details On The Death Of The Florida Woman’s Terminally Ill Husband, Jerry Gilland
As The Shade Room previously reported, the fatal shooting reportedly occurred in January 2023 at an AdventHealth location. At the time, Ellen was accused of shooting her terminally ill husband, who was a patient on the 11th floor of the facility. Additionally, it was revealed that Ellen and Jerry had planned the shooting for if his health continued to take a “turn for the worse.”
“…he wanted her to end this. Obviously, we’re unsure how she brought that gun into the hospital, but this was planned,” responding officers revealed at the time.
At the time, authorities added that Jerry had initially planned to kill himself. However, he had become too weak to carry out the action.
Subsequently, Ellen Gilland was booked on first-degree murder and held without bond.
More Details On Ellen Gilland’s Sentencing
According to WESH, on Friday, February 28, Gilland was sentenced to a year in prison and 12 years of probation. The out notes that she has also been ordered to perform community service upon her release from prison and write “apology letters” to responding officers and bystanders.
To note, Ellen’s first-degree murder charge was reportedly reduced to “assisting self-murder and manslaughter with a grand jury indictment.”
