Eric Benét Says That Birth Control Should Be Given To Men—“Science Created The Pill For The Wrong Gender”

Roommates, on any given day celebrities take to their social media accounts to voice their opinions on a wide variety of topics for their millions of fans. Singer Eric Benét posted a very interesting opinion regarding birth control that had many actually rethinking who the product should actually be made for.

The topic of birth control has always been a very hot button issue in the U.S.—and ironically, it’s also been brought up during the current presidential race, so it’s expected that celebrities will chime in with their thoughts on the matter.

However, it’s likely that no one expected Grammy-nominated singer Eric Benét to post his opinions and get people to seriously reconsider how they previously viewed birth control.

He tweeted the following:

“Theoretically a man could impregnate 4 women a day per year(1460 pregnancies). A woman can give birth only once a year. If “birth control” was the objective…science created the pill for the wrong gender.”

Social media erupted with their opinions and were largely in support of Eric Benét’s analysis, while also acknowledging that birth control is rooted in misogyny.

As we previously reported, the Supreme Court recently voted to allow Trump to exempt employers from the Obamacare birth control mandate.

Since 2010, employers have been mandated to guarantee free birth control and contraceptive services for women and so far, all FDA-approved contraceptives were included. Now, employers have the option to not cover birth control in their health insurance plans for employees, possibly forcing the millions of women who obtain birth control at no cost through their job to start paying for it.
