On Friday, March 29, Badu took to her Instagram Story to share an Amazon Music flyer regarding Bey’s recently released ‘Cowboy Carter’ album. The flyer read:
“COWBOY CARTER MAKES BEYONC’S BIGGEST DEBUT ON AMAZON MUSIC WITH THE MOST FIRST-DAY GLOBAL STREAMS OF ALL HER ALBUMS, AND THE MOST FIRST-DAY STREAMS FOR A COUNTRY ALBUM BY A FEMALE ARTIST.”
Additionally, Badu shared a supportive message for Beyonce.
“GET EM,” she wrote.

Here’s What Prompted Social Media To Think Erykah Badu Previously Threw Shade At Bey
On March 20, Beyonc took to Instagram to share a photo in promotion of ‘Cowboy Carter.’
Later that day, Badu reposted the flick with one brief word: “Hmmm.”
Social media users immediately stepped into The Shade Room’s comments, believing Badu was throwing shade at Bey. Users appeared to believe Badu was shading Bey for the beaded hairstyle she rocked in the photo, which Badu also famously adorns.
At the time, Instagram user @kellyglassthejournalist wrote, “We love you Badu, but this look is reserved for all Black folks, not just you!”
While Instagram user @lilromanxd_ added, “@erykahbadu jealous of the queen Bey ? When shes paid homage to you multiple times”
Badu’s alleged shade also seemed to prompt a comment from Bey’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure.
