Erykah Badu Talks New Music, Jay Electronica, Twitter Beefs & More

Recently Erykah Badu made her first ever appearance on the Breakfast Club and needless to say this interview is definitely one for the books. The songstress stopped by the “world’s most dangerous” morning show to promote the 2015 Soul Train Awards, which airs this Sunday and also to speak about some of her new music.

Nonetheless, you know when at the Breakfast Club there’s always more on the menu. During the interview Erykah was asked about being involved in one of Azealia Banks’ many twitter beefs. She said, “I think sometimes if we’re not careful we let people instigate us into some kind of weird situation, like it’s the people around who’s repeating and retweeting. I didn’t even know she was gon’ read it.”

She even got into the discussion about her three children and their famous fathers. She jokingly said you had to be able to drop a hot 16 in order to breed with her. Coincidentally the father to her youngest child, Jay Electronica, just happened to be in the building at the time and dropped in to make sure they were treating his baby mother right. When asked when he would finally drop an album, Badu dropped in and said, “He can make one if he wants to but he don’t need to do that, his Eternal Sunshine can last us until 2029.”

Other highlights included the origins of her relationship with Drake, one of her other well-known exes, Common and much more.

Erykah Badu’s mixtape “You Caint Use My Phone” releases Friday & The Soul Train Awards airs Sunday November 29th on BET & Centric at 8pm.
