On Monday, the files of both officers included in the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks, a Black man who was fatally shot at a Wendy’s after he fell asleep, were released. Garrett Rolfe, ex-officer who actually shot Brooks, has several misconduct reports, and one including the excessive use of force with a gun.
Rolfe’s file showed 12 incidents that vary from vehicle accidents to citizens’ complaints. Out of those 12 complaints, he was exonerated, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Two of his incidents were both vehicle related, which led to a written reprimand and an oral admonishment. One other incident included the discharge of a firearm in 2015, but a conclusion is reportedly not listed in his documents.

Officer Devin Brosnan, who was the first to arrive at the Wendy’s on Friday night, has no disciplinary history. Joining the department in 2018, he has been placed on administrative duty pending the GBI’s investigation into Brooks’ death.
As we previously reported, police were called to Wendy’s after Brooks reportedly fell asleep in the drive-thru. During the interaction, Brooks was complying. Once he took a sobriety test, things took a turn for the worst, and he was shot in his back, while running from the police.
At this time, no charges have been filed. But according to reports, the District Attorney Paul Howard is expected to announce if officer Garret Rolfe will be charged for the murder of Rayshard Brooks.
The shooting also led to the resignation of Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields, after Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms called for the immediate termination of Rolfe.
