The Connecticut Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed Fatman Scoop’s cause of death. Previously, TSR reported that the beloved hypeman and rapper died at age 56 on August 30.

New Info On Fatman Scoop’s Cause Of Death

According to PEOPLE, hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease caused Fatman Scoop’s death. The outlet further confirms that his death occurred naturally and that authorities suspected no foul play.

The National Institute of Health explains that hypertensive heart disease occurs from long-term blood pressure, which strains the heart. Atherosclerosis involves plaque buildup in artery walls, narrowing arteries, and blocking blood flow.

Per The Shade Room, Fatman Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III, died in Connecticut after collapsing on stage during a performance in Hamden on (Aug. 30).

PEOPLE reveals that Scoop collapsed at a concert at Town Center Park on August 30 and was taken to the hospital. Authorities responded to a medical emergency at the venue at 8:33 p.m. local time, according to TMZ. The outlet also released footage showing several individuals trying to assist Scoop and remove him from the stage.

On August 31, fans and fellow musicians expressed an outpouring of love for the legendary rapper after his death was confirmed through a message on his official Instagram account.

The message reads, “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and real life.

“Fatman Scoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, a brother, uncle, and a friend, He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage,” the announcement continued.

The announcement hailed Scoop as the “undisputed voice of the club” and noted that people would mourn his loss. It also emphasized the celebration of his “remarkable life and the countless lives he touched.”

“Fatman Scoop’s legacy is of love and brightness, it will reside in our hearts and memories forever,” the message concluded.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that he is survived by his daughter and brother.
