Feminists Slam Beyoncé’s Made in America Performance

Everyone is still talking about the crazy performance Beyonce gave during this year’s Made In America in Philly last Saturday. You would think everyone would have nothing but good things to say about it but there are some people who actually weren’t here for Beyonce’s performance.

Everyone knows that Beyonce is a Stan for empowering women through her music so it was only right that she included probably the strongest woman around, Ronda Rousey in her MIA performance.

During her set Beyoncé used a quote from Ronda Rousey about how she is not a “do-nothing-b*tch” :

“I have this one term for the kind of woman that my mother raised me to not be and I call it a ‘do-nothing b*tch.’ The kind of chick that just, like, tries to be pretty and be taken care of by somebody else. That’s why I think it’s hilarious, like, that people like say that my body looks masculine or something like that. I’m just like, listen, just because my body was developed for a purpose other than f**king millionaires doesn’t mean it’s masculine. I think it’s femininely badass as f**k. Because there’s not a single muscle on my body that isn’t for a purpose. Because I’m not a do-nothing b*tch.”

Well some feminist are now saying that they don’t believe Beyonce is fully invested in the movement and is only doing all of this for show!

According to the Huffington Post, AlannaVagianos, Associate Women’s Editor of The Huffington Post referred to Beyoncé’s performance as a “watered down” and “problematic” display of support for feminism.

Vagianos hints at Beyoncé’s feminism as a call for attention rather than a genuine care for the movement, she gives an ultimatum “If Beyoncé is going to be seen and not heard, she needs to choose the words she broadcasts much more carefully — especially if she’s tying her message to the feminist movement.” Is Vagianos the Gate Keeper to the feminist movement?

Let’s chat below, do you think Vagianos is doing too much and should just let Queen Bey live or is she on to something?
