Fetty Wap’s sister, Divinity Maxwell-Butts, is calling for his release from prison. The rapper has remained behind bars since October 2021 after pleading guilty to drug charges. Now, his sister wants him released early, hoping he gets out before his 2027 release date.

Fetty Wap’s Sister Divinity Maxwell-Butts Calls For His Prison Pardon

On Friday, April 4, Divinity Maxwell-Butts seemingly shared a message from Fetty Wap’s official Instagram page. She posted a screenshot of a VIBE article about him and highlighted that April is Second Chance Month. Divinity also asked for his pardon since he’s already served over half of his sentence.

“April is Second Chance Month—a time to recognize that people deserve redemption, not just punishment. My brother has taken responsibility and served over half his sentence for a nonviolent offense. He is scheduled to be released in 2027, but justice should also mean mercy. His sentence should be commuted so he can come home to his family, his children, and his purpose. It’s time. #PardonFetty #SecondChanceMonth #BringHimHome — Divinity Maxwell-Butts,” the message read.

Reports about Fetty’s prison release have been circulating on social media. Ho97 recently reported that the Trap Queen rapper shut down rumors about his early release. As speculation spread online, Fetty addressed the claims by reportedly sharing a post on his Instagram Story from someone who seemed to be close to him. The account wrote, “He’s not out yet,” and tagged him, adding, “Free you, brother. I love you!!“

More Details About The Rapper’s Arrest & Charges

In 2022, The Shade Room reported that the FBI arrested Fetty Wap while he was at Rolling Loud New York. Authorities took him into custody after accusing him of being part of a drug trafficking ring. They charged him with distributing cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl across Long Island and New Jersey. In May 2023, the court sentenced him to six years in prison. Amid his legal troubles, Fetty thanked his fans for their support in October 2021. In a clip shared by HipHopDX, the New Jersey artist expressed his gratitude to fans who continued to show him love and support.

“I just want to thank all the fans. You feel me? All the fans showing me love, sending all the reels and the stories and everything and all the tags, photos and everything like that you heard,” Fetty says in a clip.
