Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, a Florida man, has been arrested for allegedly stealing $200 in lottery winnings from Ruth Monroe, an 83-year-old woman.

More Details On The Florida Man, Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, Allegedly Stealing $200 In Lottery Winnings From The 83-Year-Old Woman
According to Fox 35 Orlando, the incident between Fleury and Monroe occurred on Wednesday, January 15, around 8 a.m. Per the outlet, the 83-year-old had arrived at Buddy’s Food and Lotto to collect $200 in lottery winnings.
Subsequently, surveillance footage captured Monroe walking out of the store and toward her car. Around the same time, a man in an orange jacket is seen walking toward the store. At that point, Monroe is seen trying to open her car door. However, the man approaches her and appears to try to grab the items from her hands.
From there, another man is seen running out of the convenience store in an apparent effort to defend the 83-year-old. However, as the woman tries to enter her car, the suspect runs toward her. Ultimately, he’s seen aggressively yanking her from the car and dragging her to the ground.
At that point, the man then runs out of surveillance view.
Ruth Monroe Speaks Out Amid The Suspect’s Arrest
Per the outlet, authorities immediately identified the suspect as Fleury. Additionally, they released a warrant for his arrest, charging him with “robbery, sudden snatching, and battery on a person 65 or older.”
Then, on Thursday, January 16, police announced that Fleury had been arrested via X, formerly known as Twitter. According to the department’s tweet, Fleury is reportedly behind bars.

According to WESH, on Thursday, Monroe also returned to the convenience store. She reportedly reflected on the incident while speaking with the outlet.
“I’m 83, I’ve never gotten punched. But that look on his face that he was about ready to you know, and that’s when he pulled it out of my hand and went that way,” she explained.
A Tragic Incident Involving An 84-Year-Old Woman In Ohio Recently Made Headlines

At the time, a staff member observed the woman’s absence. However, she did not report the observation and instead assumed the 84-year-old left the facility with a family member.
The next day, Meuti’s body was reportedly discovered outside of the facility.
