Former officer Brett Hankison, who was involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor, is being sued for sexual assault. According to @courierjournal, a local attorney, Margo Borders, is accusing him of “willfully, intentionally, painfully and violently” sexually assaulting her after offering her a ride home from a bar in 2018. Hankison is said to have allegedly left the lawyer “physically injured and mentally battered.”
Borders publicly accused Hankison of the attack on Facebook. Back in June, the post was shared more than 16,000 times, according to The Courier Journal. She called him “a predator of the worst kind” in a previous statement, The Courier Journal reports.
Brett Hankison is one of three officers who was involved in the Breonna Taylor case. The Louisville Metro Police Department has since fired the officer for his role in the shooting.
Hankison has also been charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for bullets that went into a neighboring occupied apartment.
Most recently, former officer Jonathan Mattingly who was involved in the Breonna Taylor case told “Good Morning America” co-anchor Michael Strahan that he felt “mostly frustration” as he watched months of protests across the country in reaction to Breonna Taylor’s death.
“There was so much misinformation out, all these false narratives,” Jonathan Mattingly said, explaining the public backlash surrounding him firing his weapon six times the night Breonna Taylor died from multiple gunshot wounds back in March.
Mattingly continued, adding “This is not relatable to George Floyd. It’s nothing like it. This is not Ahmaud Arbery, it’s nothing like it. It’s not a race thing like people wanna try to make it to be. … This is the point where we’re doing our job, we return fire. This is not us hunting somebody down, not kneeling on a neck. This is nothing like that.”
As you recall, Breonna Taylor’s life was taken on March 13th, while serving a no-knock search warrant.
