Jenelle Evans, an OG star on MTV‘s Teen Mom 2, recently regained custody of her eldest child, Jace! Notably, this decision comes after the 13-year-old has spent nearly all of his life under the legal care of his grandmother, Barbara Evans.
Barbara ‘Agrees It’s Time’ For Jace To Live Under Jenelle’s Care
Jenelle shared the exciting news on Instagram over the weekend, noting that her “family is complete now” as viewers see her signing the paperwork.

Further commentary was provided through a statement given to Us Weekly, and she acknowledged that she and Barbara were looking forward to rebuilding their relationship.
“My mom and I decided together to grant full custody back to me because we want to build our relationship back as mother and daughter.”
Jenelle also noted that she and Barbara agree that it’s time for Jace to “be back with his siblings” and live with her and her husband, David Eason, to “learn ‘boy things’ and have ‘men talk.'”
“Also, my mother agrees it’s time for Jace to be back with his siblings and living with a mother and father. She also thinks it’s important for Jace to be around a father figure to learn ‘boy things’ and have ‘men talk.’ She has seen the way David parents my children and she knows we’re able to handle it.”
She then added that the decision was made official on March 16 before calling the matter “a done deal.”
“We want to all get along for the sake of the children and like I said before, building back our relationship as mother and daughter. We have officially signed the papers on Thursday, March 16th at the courthouse, it’s a done deal!”
Teen Mom 2 Fans Have Seen Jenelle & Barbara Go THROUGH It For Years
This development comes after years of conflict between the mother-daughter duo, and much of the drama appears to be linked to Barbara filing to take custody of Jace when he was nine months old. The explosive moment was caught on camera and aired during the very first episode of Teen Mom 2.
Since then, the show catalogued the various ups and down that went on between the pair, including one interaction about an ex-boyfriend named Kieffer that was memorably remixed into a humorous commercial for MTV.
However, the custody matter was always a sore spot, which was highlighted when Barbara initially resisted returning Jace to Jenelle’s care.
We should also add that, on top of her numerous on-camera spats with her mother, Jenelle has been involved in her fair share of serious controversies, too.
Back in 2018, MTV fired Jenelle’s husband on account of various anti-LGBTQ+ tweets.
Jenelle stood by her man, and—a year later—she was also let go after David shot and killed their pet dog. However, The Sun points out that David says the measure was justified because the dog had bitten the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Ensley.
