After Gabrielle Union revealed she splits the bills 50/50 with Dwyane Wade, folks online spilled all kinds of opinions about marriage roles. Gabby and Wade reacted with a short clip of them acting unbothered, captioned, “I love when he matches my energy, 50/50 over here.”
But, over the weekend, as the viral talks of their expenses continued, Gabrielle offered additional insight into their household dealings.
“Every household is different, and doing what’s best for you and yours is the key. And what some don’t understand is that I’m 100% responsible for 3 other households, and D has even more. The majority of those households are elderly ppl and minors. We both come from families that step up to help care for children or elderly relatives. So being able to be with someone who meets me halfway and lightens my load gives me peace and support,” Gabby wrote in an Instagram comment section.
And for those wondering, their arrangement is not due to Wade’s lack of effort. The actress added that they’ve figured out what works best for them. She encourages others to do the same.
“He’s offered to cover me, trust, but that’s not my ministry nor brings me peace,” Union werote. “All that to say, I love how we recognize that there’s billions of ways to exist, and you just gotta find what’s right for you that brings YOU peace. I found mine [red heart emoticon.]”

Gabrielle Union Talks ‘Nervous’ Financial Mindset & Splitting Expenses 50/50 With Dwyane Wade
Union recently revealed her and Wade’s way of life in an episode of Bloomberg Originals’ Idea Generation–published on May 8.
“It’s weird to say I’m head of household because, in this household, we split everything 50/50,” Gabrielle said. Adding, “In other households that each of us have to support, it puts this gorilla on your back that is like, ‘you better work b***h…you wanna sleep in? Somebody might not eat.”
Before the 50/50 comment, Gabby spoke about growth in her financial mindset. She touched moving away from letting her “anxiety and scarcity mindset to be [her] engine.”
Her aim is not to be consumed with profiting off her projects, despite feeling “more responsibilities for [her] money.”
At this time, Wade has not commented on his and Gabrielle’s financial status or expenses.
