It looks like there is another couple that has called it quits.
According to TMZ, Gary Owen’s wife, Kenya Duke, has filed for divorce after being married for almost 18 years. The site reports that online records show that Kenya filed on Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The couple tied the knot back in July 2003, and share two sons and a daughter, who are all now adults. At the moment, it is unclear what led to their split.
The couple’s family life was covered in the 2016 BET reality show, “The Gary Owen Show,” which lasted for one season.
Back in 2016, while promoting the show, Gary spoke to The Grio about how he and Kenya met, and said that they met in a comedy club, and almost immediately after he called her after getting her number. Gary told the site, “I was like, ‘Look, I know I’m supposed to wait three days, but you’re gonna meet a lot of dudes in three days. I’m just letting you know now I’m interested.'”
“Me and my wife have been together so long, and you know race doesn’t come up that much,” he continued.
Last July, Kenya shared a sweet birthday message to Gary and said, “Happy Happy Birthday to my #1 @garyowencomedy ♥️😘♥️😘 You have been the best gift and role model to our family. You always bring the love followed by your entourage of laughter, silly, f*ck it, a good time and no boundary…and we love it! I am wishing you many, many more birthdays. I love you more than you will ever know and grateful to be on this journey with you and the kids.”
