George Floyd’s 6-Year-Old Daughter Speaks About Him In New Interview—“I Miss Him”

Roommates, as the country continues to deal with the heart-breaking death of George Floyd at the hands of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin—many may forget that he leaves behind a very young daughter who is also in mourning. 6-year-old Gianna Floyd was recently interviewed about how she feels following her father’s death and her responses are sure to bring instant tears.

Gianna Floyd appeared on ABC’s long-running morning show, “Good Morning America” and the little girl managed as best she could to explain how she is feeling now that her father is no longer alive. When asked what she wants people to know, Gianna told “Good Morning America” correspondent Eva Pilgrim, “That I miss him.” She also shared what her dad was like, saying that he “played with me.”

With her mom Roxie Washington seated right beside her, little Gianna tried her best to answer the questions she was asked—although it was obvious that she doesn’t have a full understanding of what’s going on. Roxie explained George’s relationship with Gianna, saying “She didn’t have to play with nobody else because daddy was going to play with her all day long. That was his baby. He loved his little girl.”

Since Gianna is still so young, Roxie admitted that she hasn’t told her how her George died. “She said, ‘I hear them. I hear them saying my daddy’s name.’ She doesn’t know what happened. I told her that her dad died because he couldn’t breathe.”

When she was asked what she wants to be when she grows up—Gianna said that she wanted to be a doctor because “I want to take care of people.”
