A woman named Gleniece Jackson has come under fire for allegedly scamming over 200 people out of tens of thousands of dollars amid Black Yacht Weekend in Chicago. Alleged victims say Jackson took their money, but canceled the boat outings and failed to refund them their coins.
So where did the money go? Were the boat bookings and her business ever legit?

More Details On Black Yacht Weekend
According to Carter, Black Yacht Weekend has been advertised as a “floating party” for Black boaters on Lake Michigan. To date, the event has grown in popularity. However, this year’s festival brought unexpected winds, rough waters, and capsized boats. Furthermore, the event even resulted in the tragic drowning of a popular Chicago hairstylist.
To add, Gleniece Jackson, the CEO of Glentique Elite Travel, has come under fire for allegedly scamming those who wanted to attend. She reportedly sold weekend passes for the event. Per her ad, boat party prices began at $375. Meanwhile, packages that included lodging, transportation, and the boat party began at $700. Jackson told Carter she paid $6,400 to rent four small boats and $14,000 to rent seven larger, double-decker boats. In addition, she told Carter that connect for the second set of boats, a man named AJ, is the “reason that the weekend went to s**t.”
What Happened With Gleniece Jackson & Black Yacht Weekend?
According to Jackson, on the morning of June 21, AJ informed her that due to the “wind conditions,” the captains would not be setting sail. Furthermore, AJ suggested that attendees receive a future charter date or refund, which would be paid by October 31.
