One Dead, Nine Injured Following Stampede At GloRilla Concert

A mishap at a GloRilla concert in Rochester, New York, has tragically left one woman dead and nine others injured, and authorities are looking for answers.

GloRilla Fans Rushed To The Exit Due To Perceived Gunfire

The ordeal unfolded on Sunday evening, as the “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” rapper linked up with Finesse2tymes for a show at the Rochester Main Street Armory.

During the performance, AP News reports that concertgoers began to rush towards the exit in response to what they believed to have been gunshots. However, Rochester Police Chief David M. Smith notes that authorities “do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired or of anyone being shot or stabbed at the scene.”

In spite of there being no evidence of gunfire, a stampede ensued shortly after 11 p.m. First responders found three critically-injured women upon arriving to the scene, and one victim—aged 33—ultimately passed away.

In addition to the surviving two women in critical condition, seven others were transported to nearby hospitals to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Once GloRilla got word of the incident, she acknowledged it on Twitter by noting that she’s praying for those affected.

“I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf. Praying everybody is ok.”

Officials Are Investigating The Matter: ‘We Are Going To Hold People Accountable’

According to AP News, Mayor Malik Evans called the incident “totally unacceptable” and pledged to “get to the bottom of this.”

“We are going to hold people accountable for what happened last night, period.”

Further detail was provided in a statement that the Rochester Police Department published to social media, and the department noted that it’s focused on “bring[ing] accountability to those who are culpable.”

“Investigations are currently assigned to investigate this incident to not only determine what happened, but to bring accountability to those who are culpable for last night’s tragedy.”

After noting that authorities are “hearing many reports of potential causes, including crowd size, shots fired, pepper spray, and more,” the statement details how the investigation is being brought about.

“Our Invesigators are interviewing surviving victims, concertgoers, security, and everyone else that has potential information as to what led to this tragedy. We are working with the Fire Marshal’s Office to help determine number of concert goers related to the capacity of the venue.”

There are no further updates on the situation at this time, and we send our prayers out to those who were impacted by the tragedy.
