#Roommates, with the holiday season in full effect, practically everyone would welcome the blessing of some extra money right now—and if you are lucky enough to be a Google employee, your paycheck will be a little fatter this year. It was recently confirmed that Google is set to give all of its employees worldwide a $1,600 bonus, following the news that the company has officially postponed plans for employees to return to working in-office.
@TheHill reports, Google is ending the year on a high note with its thousands of employees all over the world, as the company has plans to ensure that every worker has a little more financial security this holiday season. A spokesperson for Google recently confirmed that all employees will receive a $1,600 bonus this month—which is in addition to the company’s work-from-home allowance and well-being bonuses that were initially created to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bonuses will also be given to Google interns and those who are part of the company’s extended workforce.
The decision to distribute company-wide bonuses comes just after Google officially delayed its plans to return to in-office work indefinitely due to increasing concerns regarding the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. Google employees were previously expected to return to working in the office on January 10th, but as of now, no current return date has been set.
As we previously reported back in July, Google was one of the first companies to require all of its employees to be fully vaccinated in order to return to working from the office. At the time, Company CEO Sundar Pichai outlined his full plans in a company memo to include the following practices: all employees will be required to be fully vaccinated in order to return to work and global work-from-home options that were extended through October 18th.
Similarly, popular social media platform Facebook also previously announced that all company employees must be vaccinated before they are allowed to work in company offices.
