News of Hailey Bieber suffering a mini-stroke in March had fans sending prayers and well wishes her way for weeks! Shockingly, Hailey revealed she had been hospitalized due to brain issues in a post on Instagram, and she recently got candid about the terrifying experience.
In a YouTube video, the 25-year-old wife and model got candid about her March 10th health scare, which led to her hospitalization. Hailey Bieber revealed that adding birth control pills to her daily routine while navigating a pre-existing medical condition may have contributed to the blood clot that caused her body to shut down.
I had just recently started birth control pills, which I should have never been on because I am somebody who suffers from migraines anyway, and I just did not talk to my doctors about this.
According to Hailey, her biggest mistake was taking the pills without consulting her physician and warned fans against doing so. She also revealed that she is taking aspirin and blood thinners daily to prevent the clot from returning.
So ladies, if you suffer from bad migraines and you plan on being on birth control pills, make sure you tell your doctor because having a stroke is a potential side effect from birth control pills.”
As we previously reported, Bieber was hospitalized last month after exhibiting stroke-like symptoms caused a blood clot in her heart. She detailed that she was diagnosed with a PFO–a small opening in the heart–at the “highest grade” possible. The small hole reportedly measured between 12 and 13 millimeters, and allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain.

At the time, Hailey released a statement thanking her followers for their support.

Research done by neurologists Sarkis Morales-Vidal and Jose Biller found that birth control consumption can contribute to strokes in women like Bieber who already suffer from other stroke risk factors. Both doctors detailed the research in the Medlink Neurology medical journal.
