Iggy Azalea Suggests Playboi Carti Swerves His Daddy Duties: “I’m Very Much A Single Mother”

Iggy Azalea has never been shy about clarifying that she’s the more involved parent between her and Playboi Carti. And the former rapper still isn’t! She spoke on a recently released podcast about being a “single mom” and Carti’s lack of daddy duties!

For context, the former couple share a four-year-old son named Onyx, who they welcomed in 2020. In October of that year, Iggy confirmed that she was raising the child “alone” and no longer “in a relationship” with Playboi Carti.

What Iggy Azalea Said About Parenting With Playboi Carti

While speaking on the ‘Dinner’s On Me’ podcast, Iggy said she’s “very much a single mother.”

“I’m very much the only parent, no disrespect, but yes, I am not co-parenting really, and that’s just the reality of it. It’s one, it’s 24/7,” Azalea shared.

Her parental situation with Playboy Carti aside, Iggy also shared how being a mom to Onyx has changed her perception of the kind of lifestyle she desires.

“I no longer want to be traveling around everywhere. I want to take my son to school. I want him to have memories with me and give him that time,” Iggy Azalea shared. “It’s really important to me.”

Azalea added that her mother was around and “gassed…up” her sense of self and talents, making her feel like a “superwoman genius, dancer extraordinaire, painter extraordinaire, chef, whatever it was.”So, that quality time is “important” to the retired rapper, even though Onyx is only four.

“And it’s important to me, even when my son’s only 4, that I know I’m there, instilling that confidence in him and just helping guide him,” she said. Adding, “It’s my job as a parent. I think if you’re going to have a child, you should be prepared to do that and engage in that way. And I really want to. I toured two years with my son on a bus and it was time for that to end.”

At the top of this year, Iggy revealed that she was stepping away from music to pursue other creative talents, such as creative direction or design.

Iggy is one of the latest celebrity mothers to speak out about her co-parenting relationship recently.

O.T. Genesis had words for his son’s mother, Malika Haqq, earlier this week after she seemingly shaded his involvement as a dad. Also this week, ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ star Bambi spoke exclusively to The Shade Room about co-parenting with Lil Scrappy after they were spotted partying together in the club.
