“Insecure” Officially Renewed For 5th Season By HBO

It took a year and a half for the fourth season to premiere, but “Insecure” is finally back and fans are loving the current antics of Issa and the crew. Apparently, HBO is so pleased with the series’ success that the network has officially granted “Insecure” a fifth season.

@Deadline reports, fans of the hit HBO series have some celebrating to do, as the formal announcement has just been made that Issa Rae’s Golden Globe-nominated series “Insecure” will return for a fifth season. The renewal announcement comes less than three weeks after the fourth season premiered on April 12th. Speaking on the current season of “Insecure” Issa previously stated that this year all the characters are leveling up romantically and professionally, as they each enter into new phases of their lives.

Following Issa quitting her job in season three, she is now giving her full focus to her passion project of putting together a block party for her community—while also sparking up a new friendship. Meanwhile, Molly and Issa’s friendship is on life support and Molly is attempting to start a serious relationship with “Asian Bae” Andrew. As for Lawrence, well his new relationship with Condola is more complicated than he realizes because she and Issa have become besties.

Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of Programming at HBO, said this about “Insecure’s” renewal:

“We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season. As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.”

“Insecure” was created by Issa Rae & Larry Wilmore and includes series regulars Yvonne Orji, Ellis, Natasha Rothwell and Amanda Seales.
