Just weeks after Irv Gotti passed, his brother Chris Lorenzo revealed details about what happened. In an interview with the ‘2 Way’ podcast, Chris broke down the details, telling hosts Mark Halperin and Dame Dash, who also made an appearance, that Irv was diagnosed with diabetes in his 40s.

Irv Gotti’s Brother Chris Lorenzo Reveals What Led To His Passing
Chris Lorenzo said Irv Gotti didn’t even believe he had diabetes when he went for a checkup. He also mentioned that their dad dealt with diabetes, too.
Chris kept it real, saying Irv wanted to do things and pass away when it was his time. He broke down what had happened and explained that Irv had passed away after eating a bunch of Chinese food while playing poker. That triggered a massive hemorrhagic stroke, causing bleeding in his brain.
“Diabetes is not what kills you. It’s always something else. It’s what diabetes does to the body that actually takes your life,” Chris Lorenzo explained.
Dame Dash, who also deals with diabetes, added that calcium buildup is rough and keeping an eye on blockages is crucial.

Earlier this month, The Shade Room reported that Irv Gotti passed away at 54. The Hollywood Reporter first reported about his death, and TMZ later confirmed it. His family shared that he took his last breath in New York City on Feb. 5. Back in August 2024, TSR reported that the Murder Inc. co-founder suffered a stroke, according to his representative at the time.
Chris Lorenzo Mourns Irv With Heartfelt Message
Days after Irv passed, Chris Lorenzo paid tribute to him through a heartfelt Instagram Reel. On Feb. 6, he posted a video with a photo of Irv, showing his birth date and passing date. The pic also had a graphic that read, “IN LOVING MEMORY OF IRVING DOMINGO LORENZO… IRV GOTTI… HIP HOP LEGEND.”
Chris added a long caption, saying, “With profound sorrow, I announce the passing of my beloved brother, Irv Gotti Lorenzo. 🕊️ His visionary talent not only transformed the music industry but also touched countless lives. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a cherished brother, father, and friend. His legacy will forever resonate in our hearts. Now I need you! MY BROTHERS KEEPER!!!! I LOVE YOU AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY BROTHER’S KEEPER!!!! Rest in power, Irv. You will be deeply missed.”
Chris continued to highlight his brother by talking about his legacy by sharing a video of a news segment that honored him.
