Issa Rae Officially Launches Record Label Through Atlantic Records, Signs Haitian Artist TeaMarrr

Issa Rae continues to prove that she is a woman of many talents—and in addition to multiple TV projects and upcoming films, she’s now tackling the music industry.

As fans anxiously await the delayed fourth season of her hit HBO series “Insecure,” actress/writer Issa Rae is piling even more on her plate and many aspiring artists will reap the benefits. As reported by @shadow_act, Issa has officially launched her own record with a deal through the legendary Atlantic Records.

Issa recently debuted her label, Raedio, which also supplies music supervision services for another HBO show executive produced by her, the freshman series “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” Issa’s first artist is Haitian-American rapper/singer TeaMarrr, whose new single “Kinda Love” was recently released and features an accompanying music video directed by child, who has also shot videos for Ari Lennox and Lucky Daye. The video features notable cameos by Issa herself and online comedian Jessie Woo.

Speaking about the new venture, Issa had this to say:

“Music has always been an essential part of every project I do and working with emerging talent is a personal passion. Raedio allows me to continue that work within the music industry and audio entertainment space. The Atlantic Records team are innovators in terms of shifting and shaping culture. I’m excited to join forces with them to discover new artists.”

Atlantic Chairperson and COO, Julie Greenwald, expressed her excitement at Issa joining the Atlantic family:

“Issa Rae is a next-level, future-thinking creative force who’s been breaking down cultural barriers and conquering one field after another. She’s made music a central character in her artistic evolution, and now she’s brought all that amazing passion, inspiration and taste to the formation of Raedio. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Issa and her team on this exciting new venture and TeaMarrr is the perfect artist to launch with.”

This is a great fit because one of the best parts of Issa Rae projects is the amazing music that acts as the soundtrack.

Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
