Ja Rule Speaks On Colorism-- "We All One"

Ja Rule Speaks On Colorism– “We All One”

While we fight against racism, Ja Rule wants us to stop fighting against each other within the Black community.

In a tweet, the rapper wrote, “Attention Black community…NO MORE LIGHTSKIN DARKSKIN SEPERATION WE ALL ONE!!!” A few hours later, he also tweeted, “Colorism is a big issue in our communities but it’s NOT rooted in hate… WE CAN FIX THIS!!!

Just in case you didn’t know, colorism is defined as, “differential treatment based on skin color, especially favoritism toward those with a lighter skin tone and mistreatment or exclusion of those with a darker skin tone, typically among those of the same racial group or ethnicity,” according to dictionary.com.

Earlier this month, rapper Asian Doll also took to Instagram to speak about colorism. She tweeted,

“Alot of light skin girls posting “black lives matter” like you h__s not racists too yall bullied darkskin girls all our life thinking yall was better then us talked bout our skin but keep spreading fake love you h-s will NEVER understand us.”

She continued, “ Light skin b-s way evil and jealous to darkskin girls then the white folks but that’s a different racist topic !!!!!!!! [EMOJI]”

This comes amid a time that there is a stand against systemic racism like never before, and the George Floyd protests that led to the arrests of all four officers.

Charges range from second-degree murder and aiding and abetting murder in the second-degree, as we previously reported.

The protests also sparked companies like Target, Nike, and Twitter to recognize Juneteenth–holiday that celebrates the official end of slavery.

Also, many officers are being held to a higher standard than what we’ve seen in previous years.

For instance, officers involved in Atlanta, GA and Buffalo,NY have been fired or placed on administrative leave, pending investigations into crimes of excessive force and/or police brutality. People have also lost jobs and opportunities because of their racism and bigoted ways.

Whether or not you think colorism is real, we definitely need to stand together now more than ever before. “WE ALL ONE,” in the words of Ja Rule.
