Jake Paul Reveals He Is Suffering From Memory Loss & Slurred Speech Ahead Of Fight Against Tyron Woodley

YouTuber and influencer turned boxer, Jake Paul, has been stepping in the boxing ring with some of the biggest names in the sport. While he’s shown a lot of courage and even caught a few W’s, he recently revealed he’s been having health problems since starting his boxing career less than two years ago.

Paul sat down with journalist Graham Bensinger as he prepares to step in the ring with Tyron Wooley, and revealed he has been suffering from mood swings, memory loss and slurred speech.

“I notice it in conversations with like, my girlfriend or friends, like, not remembering something that I should be able to remember that happened a couple days ago,” he explained. “Sometimes in my speech, where like every hundredth or two hundredth word, I’ll mess up or, like, slur. Which I didn’t do that before.”

Although Jake is new to the sport of boxing, he has been an athlete since he was a kid and estimated that he has suffered between 20 and 30 concussions in his lifetime. He added that “it’s really hard to say” exactly how many times he’s had the head injury, but noted that some of them came from his football career as a child and many have been a result of his new boxing venture.

Jake also revealed that he has his brain scanned before starting his boxing career, and a doctor informed him that he was suffering from a lack of blood flow in certain areas of his brain due to the concussions he sustained playing football as a child.

He said he returned for another brand scan one year later, and things looked worse than before. Jake said doctors advised him to quit boxing at that point, and he decided to continue fighting.

“I think before, it was affecting me more at a rapid pace because I never took it easy,” Jake Paul explained. “I was always thrown in there with people who were way better than me until I started to slowly get to their level.”

Jake admitted that he’s been using psychedelics like toad venom to help combat the effects of his injuries. He’s set to square up with Tyron Woodley on Saturday.
